PTA Newsletter – May

Thank you to everyone who came to our ‘Inflatable Day’, it was great to see so many of you there! It was a really enjoyable family day and we raised lots of money for the school. We would like to say a special thank you to Denise Hamilton and ‘Barclays Bank’ who doubled part of our profit as part of a scheme called ‘Matched funding’. If you work for a business that may run a similar scheme or they would like to be involved at a future event please talk to a member of the PTA or let the school office know.

The money raised at PTA events so far this year has already paid for some new chalk boards for Paddington Bear Class, the ‘Royal Wedding’ commemorative oak tree and contributed to the cost of the choir’s trip to the O2. Thank you all for showing such great support to our events so far this year.We are continuing to raise money to help buy a new ‘state of the art’ sound and media centre for the school hall. This will be a fantastic addition for assemblies, school productions, discos etc.

Plans for the Summer Fete on Saturday 18th June 2011 at 1pm – 4pm are coming along nicely; we already have a range of great attractions booked. These include a performance by the fantastic school choir, a bouncy castle, inflatable slides, raffles, a Pimms and beer tent, face painting and much more. This is going to be a great day and we hope you can all come and enjoy the event with your friends and families. As you can imagine, setting up and running the fete is a big task for our dedicated (but small) PTA committee, therefore we are appealing for any kind volunteers to help us on the day. Whether it is to help set up, run a stall or lend a hand to tidy up at the end of the day we would be extremely grateful of any help you can offer. If you are available to help (even if for just half an hour), then please let the school office know and we will contact you. Thank you in advance.

We are pleased to inform you that we have adopted a new constitution, and we will now be known as the PTFA (parents, teachers and friends associations). This change means that people who are not currently teachers or parents of the school can now become a member of the committee.

Please check the school website for the dates of up coming meetings and events.

Don’t forget you can get ice creams and lollies from the school hall every Friday after school.

Thanks for your time. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to our future events.

From all the PTFA committee.
