On Thursday (15.01.15) our Indoor Athletics Team performed superbly at the District Festival, finishing in second place, therefore qualifying for the Braintree Final next month (26th February)!
Our team of twenty was largely made-up of Year 5/6, but we also took three of our Year 4 stars (Lea-Shea, Maisy and Kaci-Mai) and they all performed brilliantly!
Although it was a real ‘team effort’ my personal highlights were:
A superb performance by Jamie-Lee in the javelin. Jamie-Lee almost threw the indoor javelin the entire length of the sports hall, amazing all the teachers and competitors!
Rosie and Maisy won their 2 runner relay race with miles to spare and never looked like surrendering their massive lead!
Lily threw the basketball miles in the chest push event, beating all the other competitors and amazing herself with her achievement!
Finally, our Year 4’s were magnificent. We were the only school to take Year 4’s but they were crucial to our success. Maisy was incredible on the track and Lea-Shea and Kaci-Mai recorded the highest scores on the speed jump event.
Thanks must also go to Mr Wiskin for the excellent PE and Sport provision at Holy Trinity. All our children receive at least two hours of PE and Sport each week and this hard work is shining through in children’s enthusiasm and enjoyment of sport and PE.
The team spirit was wonderful and our athletes demonstrated excellent sporting behaviour; they were a credit to Holy Trinity and I was so proud to be there and see their achievements! Thank you to all the Parents, Friends and Families who came along to spectate – the team really appreciated your support
