I would like to start by wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. The last week in school before we break up for Christmas is always a busy but happy time. One of the great things about working in a Primary School is that the ‘magic’ of Christmas is still alive and well! As a school and staff we are passionate about the ‘magic’ of Christmas, so we try to go the extra mile to retain this mystery! We hope that you and your children enjoy the week!
The response to our Solar Schools fundraising has been astonishing. They way in which the children and whole school community have rallied to the cause has exceeded all our expectations. The figures show that we are more than halfway to our target of £10,010 in just under four months. Every penny raised has its own story, but I have been particularly touched by the individual projects that some of our children have launched using their imagination and determination. Our children are the citizens of the future and the way in which our children have embraced this project shows that our future is in good hands.
In the New Year Mr Handy has more fun events in the pipeline; this includes the Annual Quiz Night and a whole school ‘Bake Off’ that we plan to link with our whole school “Design Week” later in the Spring Term.
I would also like to thank our Parents and Friends who have drawn upon professional and business contacts to secure financial sponsorship for our solar panels. As a nation we are not awash with money, but the generosity you have shown has been remarkable. Thank you!
Earlier this month we were delighted to welcome the Revd Katie DeBourcier to Halstead. Reverend Katie will be visiting the school on a regular basis and she has also joined the School Governing Body. The children have enjoyed welcoming Reverend Katie to our school and I know that she is really going to enjoy working with our school and the people of Halstead, especially in the lead up to Christmas!
