This week we have been working on our new topic of Amazing Animals. Throughout the term we will be reading lots of animal based texts and using these as inspiration for our work.
Over the last few days the children have been sharing information about their pets, including some wonderful pictures. They have also written about their animals or a furry friend they would secretly love to have! Textures and colour have been a focus as the children have produced some super artwork of their pet.
In our maths sessions the children have been looking at graphs, collecting data on how many animals the class own collectively and which is the most popular pet. They have been thinking how to record and represent this information.
Our Little Explorers morning took a literary turn as we hunted for word leaves in the school grounds. The children then created their own ‘tricky word tree’ using natural materials, discussing what they had found and how this has changed since our wintery Little Explorer sessions.
Well done Hippos!
