This week we have continued our animal theme in Hippo class. The children have been using their creative skills in lots of ways, including writing riddles for their friends to solve. They have come up with some wonderful clues and some unusual animals too!
The Hippos have also explored different representations of animals, investigating how they can use their handprints, fingers and a range of paints to create images and masks. The children have been very careful in their work and have produced some super pieces of art.
Our number work has focused on representing numerals. We have practiced how to record numerals to 20, which can be a little tricky at times. The children have worked hard to avoid digit reversals and are gaining in confidence and accuracy.
Our Friday morning Little Explorers session was science based this week, as we collected objects from around the field and investigated whether they would float or sink. The children expanded their vocabulary, applying words such as ‘predict’ and ‘compare’. They looked for similarities and differences between their objects, thinking about their shape, size, material and weight.
Well done Hippos – lots of achievements and super work.
(And an extra surprise made by the children for Sunday in book bags!)
