I would like to highlight our push to improve school attendance. Our target for this year is 97% – this would represent a huge improvement if we could achieve it. We do not want children to feel that they have to drag themselves into school, but colds, runny noses and the odd headache are all things that shouldn’t prevent school attendance. As a school we don’t really have long term attendance problems (children who simply refuse to attend school) like other similar schools; our main issue is children who regularly have a day off every week or so throughout the year. This year we are going to do our best to reward good attendance, regularly highlighting children who have worked hard to improve their attendance and, ultimately, celebrate the achievements of our 100% attenders.
