Mrs Sibley’s Maternity Leave

FAO Parents/Carers of children in Class 5.

As I am sure you know Mrs Jakki Sibley will be taking some time off school, starting on Monday 6th December, as part of her statutory entitlement to maternity leave. However, Mrs Sibley is planning to return to school towards the end of the 2011 Summer Term.

It has been my aim, at all times, to cover Mrs Sibley’s teaching responsibilities with someone who your children will feel comfortable with, knows them as individuals and is familiar with our school, it’s ethos and commitment to the happiness of children. To that end I am delighted to inform you that Mrs Laura King, who will be well known to many of you and your children, will be leading the class from the start of the Spring Term.

Mrs King will be working three days a week and taking overall responsibility for the planning, preparation and assessment of curriculum issues. For the remaining two days a week I will be the teacher of Class 5. This may come as a bit of a shock to you, but I have, for many years, really missed the day-to-day joys of class teaching. I have discussed this move with Mrs Pickford, our Chair of Governors, and we both feel that Holy Trinity has the capacity to allow me to take on some temporary teaching responsibilities without affecting the day to day running of the school. I sincerely hope that your children are not too worried about the prospect of seeing more of me!

I would also like to point out that the excellent support offered by our highly skilled Teaching Assistants Mrs Kenny, Mrs Hood and Mrs Cotton will be retained in full, as will some specialist teaching in Physical Education from Mr Wiskin. Our main aim is ensure that it is ‘business as usual’ in Class 5.
Mrs Sibley will be sorely missed, she is an outstanding teacher and Deputy Head who contributes so much to our school, but please, rest assured, your children will be well cared for and their learning, social and emotional needs are, at all times, at the forefront of our thoughts.

As always, if you have any questions or worries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Jon Smith
