PTA Newsletter

Firstly thank you to everyone who supported The PTA Quiz night. Teams were made up of teaching staff and parents alike and all who came said it was a great success, so a big thank you to Mr Handy for organising and hosting the evening. Over the past few weeks the PTA has funded 2 chalk boards for the foundation playground as requested by Ms Presland. We are also in the process of funding 2 specialist CD/cassette players. So we are spending money wisely on things the school is requesting. We have also contacted the school council to see what the children could like to see the money spent on – we are interested to see what the come up with!

Unfortunately due to other commitments Barry Poulter has decided to step down as PTA Chair. Thankfully he will still stay on the committee – Barry has done an amazing job in a short amount of time – and we would like to publicly thank him for that. Due to this the PTA are holding an extraordinary meeting at 7pm on Thursday 7th April Thursday 14th April 2011 in The Bird In Hand, Halstead. At this meeting a new chair will be voted in, we will also be agreeing a new constitution. If you are interested in attending please come along.

April Fools Pyjama Disco – Friday 1st April – £1.50 per ticket. – fancy dress OPTIONAL

6.00pm to 7.15pm for the Infants

7.30pm to 9.00pm for the Juniors

Following the success of the PTA disco earlier this year we will again be selling tickets after school the week leading up to the disco, but don’t worry if you miss us as tickets will also be available from the school office.

On the night of the disco all pre paid ticket holders will be allowed entrance through a separate door to hopefully prevent queues building up. A drink and bag of crisps are included in the ticket price. Sweets and further crisps are available to buy, so please supply your children with some pocket money to buy extras if they wish. Squash and water will be available throughout the disco.
Parents of reception children are welcome to stay. We would request that all parents supply contact numbers at the time of purchasing a ticket. It is also a requirement that the children are picked up from inside the hall after the event as children will not be allowed to walk home alone.

The PTA will be arranging a range of exciting events throughout the year for pupils, staff and parents. The following events have already been planned –

Fools Disco – 1st April 2011
Summer Fete – 18th June 2011

We will keep you up to date with all the PTA’s ideas and planned events by a regular newsletter, on the school website and on the PTA notice board outside the school.

We would love to hear any ideas of events that you would like the PTA to arrange, money raising suggestions or thoughts on what the money raised from PTA events could be spent on. Please pass on your ideas by talking to a member of the PTA committee or e-mailing
