Maths Premier League

Dear Parents, Carers and Children

The maths challenges in the school newsletters are proving very popular. To build on this popularity we will be starting a ‘Maths Premier League’ or ‘MPL’ – for Key Stage One and Key Stage Two children.

We will be publishing a regular MPL ‘leaderboard’ – to earn points on the leaderboard children will need to complete the appropriate Maths puzzle/problem or task. We will keep a record of who has taken part and allocate points for effort, correct answers and just for taking part. At the end of the year children who have shown commitment will be formally recognised and their efforts rewarded.

If children have any questions about the MPL they should see Katie Greengrass (Year 6), one of our Peer Mentors, who will be organising the MPL with me. We hope to raise the profile of maths throughout the school and generally encourage children to become a little more enthusiastic about maths!

The MPL tasks will be available (downloadable) from the school website and paper copies of the tasks will be available from the revolving literature stand in the school foyer. It is important that children try to do the work without too much adult help and that they always make sure their name is on their work.

You can download all the MPL tasks here:

Good luck!
