Stand Tall

Yesterday’s excitement over our mystery guest can now explained… Year 1/2 welcomed a model giraffe to Holy Trinity as part of the Stand Tall celebrations for Colchester Zoo’s 50th birthday!

You may have seen or heard of some of the previous Wild In Art projects around the world, where large models of animals are decorated by schools, organisations, companies & artists and then displayed around a specific town or city. This is usually in aid of charity and Stand Up is no exception. Money raised has gone to support Colchester Zoos Giraffe reserve UmPhafa – opened in 2005. (Image below left.)

Umphafa

Our giraffe will be decorated by our children before being put on public display in Colchester, taking part in a giraffe parade at Colchester Zoo, and then returning to school as a permanent fixture. Full details will be announced here and sent home shortly, but in the meantime here’s a short video which shows some of Wild In Art’s previous work – with lions!
