Food Glorious Food Science Experiment In Assembly!

This morning in assembly the whole school participated in a Science investigation to find out what happened when different foods and drinks were mixed together.

The children learnt that the carbon dioxide that makes our drinks fizzy is always trying to get out.
When you add certain types of sweets a reaction called NUCLEATION happens. This means lots and lots of carbon dioxide bubbles form on the surface of the sweet and all try and get out at once, causing an exciting volcano!

Remember….You should not try this at home. It can be dangerous and you could make a real mess!
