Colchester Zoo Stand Tall Volunteer Programme – Would You Like To Get Involved?

The children and staff of Key Stage 1 have painted Leo the giraffe as part of Colchester Zoo’s 50th Birthday Celebration – Stand Tall!

Leo, along with the 60+ other giraffes painted by other schools this spring, will spend the summer in a public place in Colchester, and the Zoo are looking for volunteers to help members of the public find the giraffes and learn more about the ‘Stand Tall’ campaign. We have been asked to pass on the following message to parents, governors and friends of the school.

If you would like to get further involved with Colchester Zoo’s 50th birthday celebratory event ‘Stand Tall For Giraffes’ and are available to attend a group training session at Colchester Zoo on Saturday 11th May OR Sunday 12th May, please have a read of the poster below.

All ‘Giraffe Guardians’ will get a Stand Tall 50th birthday T-shirt and baseball cap. Numerous volunteer sessions throughout the Stand Tall campaign between 2nd June-19th Sept 2013 are on offer – any sessions you are available will be greatly appreciated with a minimum of 8 hours to take part. Session allocation and more details can be discussed at the training session.

If you would like to get involved please email Clive Witcomb at
