I would like to remind all parents and carers that it is very important to check your child’s hair for headlice and eggs. It is important to make regular checks because it has come to my attention this morning that a number of children, particularly in Key Stage Two, have developed headlice over the weekend.
The best way to prevent headlice is to simply comb your child’s hair thoroughly on a daily basis (especially long hair) because this succeeds in disrupting the life cycle of the headlice and removes any eggs before they can hatch.
I am afraid that there is very little we as a school can do to intervene in cases of headlice but please be assured that we do, when appropriate, communicate our concerns about the welfare of a child to the relevant authorities.
