When we return after half term we will be continuing with our whole school theme of ‘Animal Antics’ when we welcome some ‘creepy crawly’ visitors from Zoo Lab. It has been really good for our children to see a range of animals at close quarters; the Zoo is great, but I think that the children will get more out of these visits that a few hours of learning from a distance.
We cannot ignore the transition towards Christmas! Whilst Christmas is a wonderful time in school it is also extremely busy. In November our children will be recording their Christmas CD and designing calendars and Christmas cards for the PTFA.
The PTFA have set a provisional date of Friday 6th December for the Christmas Bazaar – if this is changed we will inform you immediately.
I would like to thank families for their support of our effort to improve attendance. Our current attendance stands at 96.5% – this means that we are just ahead of our target (95%). I am meeting with the Education Welfare Team after half term to discuss our attendance drive. The new Essex strategy is to consider investigation in cases where children’s attendance falls below 90%.
I hope that you all enjoy the half term break. It has been a really positive start to the new year, I would like to pay particular tribute to our two new teachers Miss Warren and Miss Salisbury; they have settled into the team very well and their classes are working exceptionally hard for them!
Best wishes, thank you for your support. See you on November 4th.
