Y6 MinecraftEDU City Videos – A House by Abigail & Yasmin

This half-term our Year 6s created a city in MinecraftEDU. In pairs they were responsible for a different part: the houses, shops, fire station, parks etc. Once built (although it’s all really a work-in-progress!) they used Screenrecorder to give a walking tour of their creations before editing their videos and adding sound and captions in Movie Maker. Although they worked in pairs on the buildings themselves, all the children created their own videos. (Some pairs joined their videos together for publishing to the web.)
Aside from being given instructions on how to use the software very little input came from me. The creative decisions the children have made regarding their creations, and how they showcase them in their videos, have been all theirs.
Capturing video whilst running MinecraftEDU on laptops has caused some lag and colour rendering issues. In ‘real life’ MinecraftEDU runs a lot smoother and clearer.
We will be publishing all the videos over the course of the next few weeks, and you’ll be able to see them all at http://www.holytrinityhalstead.com/category/minecraftedu
I hope you agree there is some great work here from the children. I’m very proud of them.
