Back To School!

School is almost ready…staff have been scurrying around making sure everything is sorted for the return to school on Monday. We hope you have had an enjoyable summer.

A few things to mention:

We are excited to be welcoming a whole new group of children to Holy Trinity, most of whom are starting school for the very first time! To all those new pupils and parents we are very much looking forward to working with you over the coming year. Please ask at the school office, or your child’s class teacher, if there is anything you’re not sure about. Although there are a number of familiar faces (and families) starting who do know there way around please keep an eye out for anyone new who is looking a bit lost, and help out if you can!

Please make sure PE kits are in straight away as they will be needed in the first week. Gecko Class (Year 1) have PE first thing on Monday morning!
All ear rings should be removed or, if that is not possible, the children should be able to tape their own ears.
Mr. Wiskin is happy for children to wear trainers or plimsoles, but they must be clean as they will be used in the hall.

In response to requests for non-bug attracting PE shirts (!) we have sourced these new, blue, non-iron shirts featuring the new school badge. These are not intended to replace the yellow shirts, so if you’ve bought one already for the new school year don’t worry, but are intended as an alternative option. We currently have a number in stock for KS2, with smaller sizes due in the next few weeks. They are slightly more expensive for us to source than the yellow shirts but will, as ever, be sold on to parents at cost price or less – definitely under £10.

Monday’s lunch is Minced Beef & Vegetable Puff Pastry Pie, Mashed Potato & Garden Peas followed by Pancakes with Banana. Whilst lunches are still free for Foundation & KS1 children the price for KS2 has risen to £2.20 a day – the first rise in several years. Please pay for all lunches in advance.

Although we are moving WOW Assembly to Mondays this year, the first one will not be until next week, 14th September.

Please make sure that all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child/ren’s name, including shoes. This does not have to be via tags, but please check written-in names regularly as pen does fade.

The first week back at school after the summer is as much about getting used to new rooms, teachers and classmates as it is about formal learning. Class teachers will be sending home reading books, homework diaries etc. as the week progresses and things differ from class to class. It is all in hand, so if your child doesn’t come home with a book straight away please don’t panic!

A reminder that the PTFA Inflatable Fun Day is just two weeks away. (See below) Don’t miss the fun!

We have already set dates for Harvest, School Photos, Parents Evenings, History Week, Nativity, Carol Assembly and more… Full details for all of these happenings will appear in due course, but you can find out when they are on our Calendar page.

Have a great weekend and we’ll see you bright and early on Monday morning for the start of another brilliant year at Holy Trinity Halstead!
