The Christmas celebrations have started in Hippo class this week, with the appearance of a magical Santa’s grotto and lots of lovely Christmas based activities! The children have also been practicing hard for their play, which they are very much looking forward to sharing with you next week.
Hippos have been counting out stockings, reindeer, twinkling stars and even buttons for a snowman. They have matched numerals and quantities and started to think about the idea of ‘more’ and ‘less’. The children have also thought carefully how they could combine different media to decorate Christmas trees and make Christmas decorations.
In our Literacy sessions the children have written a letter to Father Christmas, focusing carefully on their sounds and letter formation. We then rounded up the week with a lovely hot chocolate and Christmas stories outside (during Little Explorers), which the children really enjoyed.
A wonderful festive week!
