Our Year 6 pupils have been using Micro:bits since Easter to practice their coding skills with some physical equipment. Last week they created some basic games and sent messages to each other using the Micro:bits inbuilt radios. This week they’ve been creating step counters – programming them and then testing their effectiveness before making modifications to the code. The testing saw the Micro:bits being moved in all sorts of ways, from running and jumping to flossing and free dance, and it was decided that using the accelerometer to detect 3G movements was more effective than using the ‘shake’ option. To finish, the children wired their Micro:bots up to a mini speaker and made them play some basic tunes.
