Year 1 Computer Art

Even though all the children in Gecko Class worked with me on laptops and with BeeBots when they were in Giraffes, it’s still a steep learning curve at the beginning of Year 1. Logging in and accessing websites such as Purple Mash & Sumdog by themselves is a big ask, but we take our time and it’s wonderful to see how their hard work and perserverance is paying off.

Over the last two weeks the children have been aiming to log in and access 2Paint within Purple Mash. The challenge here, beyond navigating the software, has been using the trackpads to draw with. It’s not been easy, but they are getting there! The themes have been ‘houses’ to fit in with the class topic, and ‘Christmas’ because…it’s nearly Christmas! Some of the children have been using other parts of Purple Mash to hone their art and trackpad skills.

I’m really proud of how well Year 1 have done this term in Computing.
