Year 5 are creating sculptures this term, inspired by the works of French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle. The first stage of this process was to look at de Saint Phalle’s decorating style and develop it to decorate existing models. The children planned their designs and then painted them onto papier-mâché figures before being varnished. Once finished, they all evaluated their work to help them with their next task – create papier-mâché bowls and decorating them in another of de Saint Phalle’s methods – mosaic.
All the models are on display in the Year 5 classroom windows.
