This morning Y6 completely took apart some old desktop computers. Ever component, including the drives, memory, fans, processor and mother board were removed. In the process they learned about what each part of a computer does, and some of the ways computers have developed over the years. Once each of the eight PCs had been completely dismantled they put them all back together again and tested them to make sure they would boot – never has the Windows XP start-up screen been cheered as much!
I have been so impressed with how well the whole class worked together on this: sharing equipment and expertise, and really working hard on their problem solving skills. Well done Year 6!
