On Monday Y6 had a Computer Tech Day where in small groups they took apart some old PCs completely, learned about the functions of the various parts (and a bit of computing history) and then put them back together again. As you can see from the photos they really did deconstruct the computers completely, removing everything that could be taken off and out of the case, right down to the processor. Once each group was finished they plugged their PC into a monitor and powered it up – you wouldn’t believe the cheer a Windows XP boot-up screen can get! The race to get them all back together again and tested in time beat three of the seven groups, but I’m pleased to say that when they were tested after school on Tuesday, they all worked too. Well done Orca Class, I hope you enjoyed your Tech Day!
