What an amazing day! We had a lot of fun trying to hold up the extremely heavy chain mail tunic, ground some flour, tried on clothing and helmets, played Hnefatafl and Nine Men’s Morris, learnt some Viking commands for battle and so much more!
Year 4
Year 4 have been creating graphics using Google Drawings, and Year 5 are about to start creating stop frame animations, so to mark Bonfire Night, here are some fireworks pictures by Jaguar Class & some firework animations (put together as a video) by Panther Class.
Today, Year 4 investigated complete and incomplete circuits by first predicting which circuit would work. They discovered what a circuit needs to be complete in order to allow the current of electricity to flow.
Year 4 have been outside today creating their own angles using sticks and chalking on the playground whilst identifying obtuse, acute and right-angles.
Year 4 have been learning to tell the time to specific minutes, converting 12hr to 24hr time and solving time related problems. Many have realised how important it is to be able to tell the time – especially, analogue!
This week we were delighted to welcome poet Matt Abbott to school to write poetry with children across the school. On Wednesday he worked with Year 6 and they have written a collaborative poem which will soon be shared in video form and be put on display in the school. […]
Year 4 were asked which chocolate will melt the fastest. They investigated dark, milk and white chocolate by first creating a prediction then analysing their results to compare. They found that most people said the white chocolate was the quickest to melt and that the dark chocolate melted the slowest. […]
Our friends from Hedingham and St. Andrew’s Churches have spent the day with Years 3 and 4 making and decorating a selection of Christian crosses from around the world. This afternoon, Jaguar class have been very busy and creative! They created a model of a shaduf using a choice of materials. Shadufs were used by the Ancient Egyptians to irrigate their crops.
To mark tomorrow’s Royal Wedding we held a special ‘Wedding Breakfast’ at lunchtime, hung bunting across the playground, and spent the afternoon playing traditional British playtime games outside.
