Create - The Arts
Creativity is a key element of our Learning Powers.
The Arts at Holy Trinity
Images from several of our successful Arts-focused weeks showcase the vibrant creative life at Holy Trinity. These include Fantastic Flights to Faraway Places, Cultural Arts Week (featuring a visit from a representative of the NSEAD), and Around the World in Music and Dance.
We hold regular themed weeks, such as Flights to Faraway Places and Around the World in Music and Dance, which aim to immerse children in a variety of countries and cultures through art, dance, and music. At Holy Trinity, we strive to nurture high aspirations in every child. The Arts play a central role in helping children to dream big and aim high. One example is our Rock Steady weekly club, where children form in-school bands and take part in lessons that promote teamwork, confidence, social skills, and wellbeing. At the end of each term, they perform in front of the whole school - an experience that builds self-belief, provides recognition, and inspires ambition.
Further opportunities to perform and aspire are provided through the Year 2 Nativity and the Year 5/6 end-of-year production. These take place at a local theatre, allowing children to perform on a professional stage with lighting and sound. Such experiences ignite passion and curiosity about possible future careers in the creative arts, helping children to imagine opportunities that might otherwise have felt out of reach.
The Arts are also a powerful vehicle for promoting our school values, particularly Respect. Holy Trinity was invited to create a banner for the Glastonbury Festival promoting Climate Justice and Climate Change. The children collaborated using a range of artistic techniques—including painting, printing, drawing, and weaving - to produce a stunning banner displayed at the Festival.
Our commitment to the Arts and global awareness is further reflected in our participation in the ‘Get Creative for Climate Justice’ project. Pupils created sculptures based on climate themes, which were proudly exhibited at Chelmsford Cathedral.
These examples highlight how the Arts - whether through visual art, music, or drama - are integral to driving Holy Trinity’s vision and values. They broaden children’s horizons, inspire ambition, and help them to grow into inclusive, kind, and respectful citizens with a deep appreciation of the world around them.
