Mathematics

Overview

At Holy Trinity C of E Primary School our vision of Christian values (love, honesty and respect) underpin our desire to support and enhance the teaching and learning of maths from EYFS to Year 6.

Maths is a journey and long-term goal, achieved through exploration, clarification, practice and application over time. Early mathematics is developed through exploration and play and is evident in indoor and outdoor provision. We feel that language and communication is key to the understanding of mathematical concepts and the way pupils speak and write about mathematics transforms their learning.

At Holy Trinity we follow a mastery curriculum where there is challenge for all - we want children to enjoy, achieve and be successful in Maths. It is our intention to provide the opportunity for the children to acquire a deep, secure and adaptable understanding of mathematical concepts and procedures which they can use in the wider world in real life contexts. We value cross-curricular learning and endeavour to utilise other primary subjects as a route for our children to practise and apply their mathematical skills.
